Permanent Jewelry in New Jersey: Where to Get Zapped and What It Costs

If you've spent any time on the Jersey Shore in the last two summers, you've seen it: a small table, a tiny welding tool, and a line of people waiting to get a chain fitted and permanently closed around their wrist. No clasp. No taking it off at night. Just a bracelet that becomes part of your day the way a watch never quite does.

Permanent jewelry has gone from a curiosity to a standing tradition in New Jersey — and if you're looking into it for the first time, you probably have two questions. Where do I actually go, and what is this going to cost me?

Here's the honest answer to both.

What permanent jewelry actually is

Permanent jewelry is custom-fit, clasp-free jewelry. A chain is measured against your wrist, ankle, neck, or finger, trimmed to your exact size, and the two ends are joined with a quick, precise weld. There's no clasp to fumble with and no clasp to fail. You walk out wearing it.

At Forever Golden, every piece is 14K gold-filled or sterling silver, and everything we work with is waterproof and tarnish-resistant. That matters more in New Jersey than it might somewhere else — between the ocean, the pool, and August humidity, jewelry here gets tested.

What drives the cost

Permanent jewelry is priced by the chain, not by a flat "service fee," and that's the single most useful thing to understand before you book. Three things move the number:

Metal. Sterling silver sits at the lower end. 14K gold-filled costs more because there's real gold in it — a thick layer of solid gold bonded over a base metal, which is what lets it survive daily wear without the color walking off.

Chain gauge and style. A fine, barely-there cable chain uses less metal than a chunky, faceted, high-shine style. Wider and heavier means more material, which means more cost. This is why two people can walk out of the same appointment paying very different amounts.

Length. An anklet takes more chain than a bracelet. A necklace takes more than either. Since you're paying by the inch, placement changes the price on its own.

Charms and add-ons. Optional, priced separately, and the easiest way to make a piece feel like yours.

Studio appointment vs. pop-up: which is right for you

Both get you the same jewelry. They're different experiences.

The studio is at 304 Union Avenue in Brielle, right next to Salon Baraka. You get the full chain selection, unhurried time to try styles against your skin tone and your existing jewelry, and a welder who can talk you through stacking. Walk-ins are welcome, though booking ahead is the safer bet — and walk-in hours do shift, so our Instagram story is always the most current source. You can book online here.

A pop-up is fast, social, and a little bit of an event. We bring a curated selection rather than the full wall, so if you have your heart set on one specific chain, the studio is the safer choice. If you want the fun of doing it with three friends on a Saturday, a pop-up is hard to beat.

Why people drive across the state for this

We've fitted more than 2,000 clients and worked more than 450 events, and a pattern shows up over and over: almost nobody comes alone. That's also why the welder matters. A clean weld is the difference between a bracelet you forget you're wearing and one that gives out in a week. Ours is backed by a written policy: if a piece comes off within seven days because of a welding error, we replace it free with proof of purchase. Between seven days and three months, a lost piece is replaced at half price. And if your chain ever snags and comes apart, a reweld in-store is complimentary, permanently.

Before you book

A few things worth knowing:

• Come with clean skin. Skip heavy lotion on the spot you're getting fitted.
• Bring your people. It's a better appointment with company, and most stacks start as a group decision.
• Think about your existing jewelry. Bring the rings and chains you wear daily so we can match tones and widths.
• Budget for two. Very few people stop at one. Consider yourself warned.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the appointment take? The weld itself is seconds. A single-piece appointment usually runs 15–20 minutes with sizing and chain selection. Groups take longer, and that's part of the fun.

Does it hurt? No. The welding tool never touches your skin.

Can I take it off? Yes. A small pair of scissors or nail clippers will do it. Keep the chain and we can reattach it.

Do you serve outside the Jersey Shore? Our studio is in Brielle, but our mobile setup travels throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
